TV Guide
It isn't customary that I write on current political matters but I couldn't but notice one thing. Every one now knows the agony and disaster that Lebanese people suffer due to Israeli hatred and bombing.
And this is what TV schedules look like for regional TV stations:
Al Jazeera/Al Arabia: Breaking news, live commentary, breaking news, news, breaking news, news analysis, breaking news, etc... (In addition to live news tracker and live scenes).
Al Manar: Breaking news, patriotic anthems, news, interviews, breaking news, interviews, speeches, etc... (In addition to live news tracker and live scenes).
Al Mustakbal: Interviews, breaking news, news, commentary, breaking news, more interviews, etc... (In addition to live news tracker and live scenes).
ANB: Interviews, news, live commentary, breaking news, breaking news, news analysis, etc... (In addition to live news tracker and live scenes).
Syria: Live commentary, breaking news, interviews, breaking news, analysis, news, patriotic anthems, etc... (In addition to live news tracker and live scenes).
New TV: Breaking news, analysis, news, breaking news, interviews, patriotic anthems, breaking news, etc... (In addition to live news tracker and live scenes).
AND...
LBC: Naharkom Saiid, cooking lessons, Mexican drama, news, Arabic drama, Deal or no deal, news and interviews, Iktashafna Al Baroud, feature movie, and no news tracker...
Can anyone explain this contradiction (in addition to the "it's-all-sad-news-and-people-should-have-some-fun)??

I am not sure, but I think because LBC International is not purely Lebanese and has around 50% owned by Saudis. So it cannot just stop its business (lose audience and lose ads) because of the conflict, there is the interests of shareholders.
We are watching LBC Europe which makes more sense in shwoing news most of the time.
Sounds like a reasonable explanation. Thanks.
You know, I actually think it is very important and a healthy sign that at least one channel broadcasts something else than just news about the fighting, as worrying as the situation may be. It can be seen as a way of fighting back by saying: We are not going to give you the pleasure of filling our whole existence with your enmity; There is so much more to us than just our victimhood; No matter how badly we are treated, we will proudly continue our daily activities. I think it is vital for a society to try to go on with its life and not to start defining itself solely on the basis of its enemy... I hope I'm making some sense here.

As far as i am concerned, the LBC lost me as an audience!
I was as surprised as Beesoo was and discussted by its program schedule!
I am not sure how many of their audience are in the mood set to watch Iktachafna el Baroud nowaday!
It is their land and their people for God sakes!
I am not sure whether you are right or not. But I tend to agree with ammar above.
The fact of the matter is that our whole daily life now is centered around checking what is happening in Lebanon and just waiting for the slightest news of Hizbullah successes or others.
The general feeling of being disgusted prevents anyone from being in a healthy mood to watch anything that might be cheerful or whatever. I just hope no one asks me about my opinion on TV because it will be very much "under the belt".
